Wild June is a line of high-end belt bags, utility belts and holsters made from the finest lamb, goat and sheep leathers, antique brass hardware, satin interior linings and recycled rubber. Each piece is designed to shape to the hips and accentuate the natural form of the body. Popular with both women and men, Wild June creates unique pieces that are sophisticated, edgy and completely functional.
The company is run by California-based entrepreneur, Kimberly Ponniah, who lives such a nomadic life, it is easy to see why she creates the hands-free products she creates. At 30, she’s lived on 5 continents, speaks multiple languages and manages to add a new skill or profession to her repertoire each year. A world traveler since young, Kimberly credits her travels and changing scenery with giving her a constant source of inspiration to pull from. “Every country, every city, has new ideas hiding for you everywhere, you just have to train your eye to look for them.”
All leather merchandise is produced in Indonesia. The recycled rubber pieces are produced in partnership with the Indian non-profit, Swechha. Swechha employs individuals to search through the trash looking for recyclable materials that can be upcycled and sold, and then uses the profits from these endeavors for after school kids programs, reforestation in Delhi, cleaning up the Yamuna River, and teaching job skills to the underprivileged. You can check out the other products they’ve created through recycling/upcycling, or the numerous educational, environmental and enterprising programs they have created by clicking on their link above.
